The 'Benchmarking Index' is for displaying and comparing the results people have been getting using various benchmarking programs, most commonly 3DMark, rather than using those in a magazine or on a internet site. This is useful for people to see what performance they would expect to get when they have their notebook, and also to see if they have any problems.
You may also list non-rock computers to give a good comparison.
For more details on the benchmark that was run, click on the persons name to be taken straight to their post, where you will me able to see the information they have listed, such as their notebook spec. This may also include things like driver details and background processes.
'Mains' and 'Battery' indicate power supply that was used when running the benchmark. Results are listed in order of size, from highest to lowest.
Benchmarking Index - Chat Section
Downloads:
 3DMark applications can be downloaded from Futuremark. There is a basic edition for each which is FREE.
SuperPI can be downloaded from HERE. It is FREE to use. Just unzip it anywhere, run Super_PI, and click 'Calculate (C)' in the menu bar. Now select a number of figures and click OK. We recommend 512K to 2M.
Super_PI_Mod can be download for free from Xtreme Systems for FREE. It is the same as Super PI, but adds millieseconds to the results, and also a check sum to validate your results on the same site.
NOTE: When entering a post for a benchmark you have done, can you please enter the following information -
1.System and system specification (even if it is in your sig)
2.The benchmarks you have performed (duh!  )[Please use the defult settings, these are the only ones you can use on the free versions of 3DMark, but you may have to change them in other versions {Find List}]
3.Driver details (eg ATi Catalyst 6.1 or nVidia 84.25)
4.Whether you are running Windows XP or Vista
5.Whether the test was carried out using mains or on battery
6.Anything else that you think is significant (background processes, etc.)

Peg650 CPU 2.38GHz, ATI X700 Catalyst v05.7, 1GB RAM
Out of the box default factory settings, no performance tweaks whatsoever.
The only thing turned off in the system tray was Bulldog and the only thing I altered in the ATI control panel was 'maintain aspect ratio'.
CPU is overclocked by default from 2.26GHz when on mains power - one of the Peg650's 'features' 
Out of curiosity I ran all the 3DMark apps (3DMark2000, 3DMark2001, 3DMark03, 3DMark05) with the Intel graphics first:
2000: 7814
2001: 5943
2003: 1144
2005: 282
Pleasantly surprised at the above results - it means I can run older dx7/dx8 games with no major problems on battery if needed while preserving some battery life
HL2, Doom3, Farcry, F.E.A.R., etc would probably require a little more grunt than the above.

Definately more grunt there In fact it's much better than my current desktop. Those top of the range Xtreme64's must be freakin' awesome

2000: N/A - Futuremark no longer publishes results for 3DMark2000. It's no longer available for download on their site either but I'm sure a search will find it if you want it. Or I could possibly host it.

Turns out FutureMark DO still have 3DMark2000
It's worth downloading for the demo soundtrack alone - the best soundtrack of all 3DMarks with the possible exception of the track for the closing credits of 3DMark05's demo mode (Poets of the Fall - great band).
If you do run the demo, do it after benchmarking where you get the choice of selecting graphics resolution when you start the demo
If you start the demo immediately on launching 3DMark2000, it defaults to 640x480.

Both are actually a little higher but I rounded down.
My Quaddra 64 - 3400+ gets practically the same scores so no point in putting them on here. |
